2012 GRFC WINTER CLASSIC

TOURNAMENT RULES
LOCATION
Tournament headquarters will be Starfire Sports, 14800 Starfire Way, Tukwila, WA. Preliminary games will be played at Starfire & other venues in the greater Renton area. Semi-final & final games will be played at Starfire.
ENTRY FEE & DEADLINE
Entry fee is $650 per team. Deadline for registration, along with receipt of full payment, is 20 December 2011. No refund after acceptance into tournament, regardless of weather, or cancellation of tournament or games. Teams not accepted will receive a full refund.
TEAM REGISTRATION
Teams must check in at the tournament headquarters no later than thirty minutes before their first game. All teams must present:
A final roster signed by an association or club registrar
Proof of every player’s age with valid Player card
Medical release form for every player, signed by a parent.
Travel papers if required by the team’s affiliation
In addition to the above, foreign teams must have passports or proof of entry into the US, any necessary travel documents & completed Provincial or National Association paper work approving the team’s participation in the tournament.
Teams will check in with the referee at least five minutes before each match. If requested by the referee, they must present a copy of their approved roster.
ROSTERS & AGE DIVISIONS
Teams may have the following roster sizes:
U11 teams, playing 9 v 9, no more than fourteen (14) players
All other age groups, playing 11 v 11, no more than eighteen (18) players
Teams will register & play in the group that reflects the age of their older player, per the Washington Youth Soccer Player Age Chart 2011-2012.
No changes after a team roster has been approved at tournament registration. Teams may have an unlimited number of guest players.
PLAYING RULES
All matches shall be played according to the latest FIFA Laws of the Game, as amended by the rules of Washington Youth Soccer, or unless modified herein. All referees will be registered under USSF.
Team listed first on the schedule will be the home team. They will change colors in case of a conflict with their opponent. Home teams will provide game balls.
All player equipment shall conform to the requirements of the Laws of the Game. Referee will have final say on what is approved for use by a player during the game.
Duration of all non-championship games will be fifty (50) minutes for U11 teams & sixty (60) minutes for all other age groups, with five (5) minutes between halves. Duration of championship games will be played same length as bracke play. There will be no stoppage time for injuries or any other reason.
Substitutions will be allowed during any stoppage in play & only with the referee’s permission.
Match scores will be reported by the referee.
All decisions of the referee will be final. There will be no protests, appeals or other recourse.
COMPETITION FORMAT
Each team will play a minimum of three (3) preliminary round robin matches. Scoring will be on a ten (10) point system. Six (6) points for a win; three (3) points for a tie; zero (0) points for a loss; one (1) point for a shutout; one (1) point for each goal scored, up to a maximum of three (3) points per game. A forfeit will be recorded as a 1 – 0 win, with eight (8) points awarded. Any team forfeiting one (1) game shall forfeit all games, with results entered as forfeits.
The following tiebreaker will be followed if teams are tied in total points after preliminary games:
Head to head competition
Fewest goals allowed
Most goals scored, up to four (4) per game
Goal differential (goals scored minus goals allowed)
Kicks from the Penalty Kicks Mark
Games may end up as a tie during group play. Semi-final & championship games ending in a tie at the end of regulation time will go immediately to Kicks from the Penalty Mark, unless you are in the a division with a foreign team than overtime will be two 5 minute halves played to full time.
COACH, PLAYER & SPECTATOR CONDUCT
Both teams will be positioned on one side of the field, with spectators on the opposite side. Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players, substitutes & spectators. Everyone will be expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship.
All cards will be submitted to Washington Youth Soccer for further adjudication and possible notification to your home State Association.
Any player shown two yellow cards or a red card in one match, or a coach ejected, will be disqualified from further participation in the remainder of the match & in the next scheduled match. Any player receiving two red cards during the tournament shall be disqualified for the remainder of the tournament.
At all venues please pick up any trash & place it in one of the provided receptacles. Most fields are owned by local school districts. Their rules are strict about what is allowed on the turf fields – only water, no soft drinks, coffee, etc. Pets, alcohol, illegal substances & weapons are not allowed at any tournament site.
