GRFC 97 Blue defended their 2008 U11 Rainier Challenge Championship by winning the 2009 Rainier Challenge U12 Samba title. The girls were bracketed with and played against 4 very talented teams, 3 of which are in the top PDL Tier 1 bracket. The girls had very difficult games in defeating Crossfire Premier 97A, Eastside 97 Red, HPFC Eagles 97Red and the host team WPFC 97 Black in the championship game.
The girls looked fantastic as they transitioned from the U11 9 v 9 and smaller fields to the 11 v 11 and larger fields while welcoming in the new additions, Mady B and Kimmy to the Blue team and some fantastic guest players. Thanks for your Help Hadley, Maddy M., and Riley!!! 1 goal allowed the whole tournament, and Riley put an important one in, and nearly had a few more! Maddy M. showed tremendous work at Mid as well, controlling the ball, and distributing it well. The returning players, Sydney, Mia, Amanda, Jordon, Erin, Morgan, Katelyn, Julia, Cara and Nicole should all be proud of themselves as they have showed tremendous progress since the end of last season.
The girls look forward to their continued development and the next tourney which is the Nike Crossfire Challenge along with the Blues first out of state trips to the Lake Oswego Nike Cup in Oregon and the Mustang Stampede in California.
