Congratulations to the Girls 94 Red team and their coaches Dusty Deskins and Cailan McCutchan!!! The Girls 94 Red team is new to GRFC this year and it was exciting to watch them come out and capture a Championship. The 2009 Rainier Challenge was their first tournament of the season.
Their first match put them against Crossfire Premier Red 94 and GRFC 94 Red came away the winners 1-0. In game two they played against Harbor FC 94 Gonzales and won this 3-1. Third game was against Synergy FC 94 Lopez. Synergy was a tough team, but GRFC 94 Red prevailed to win 1-0. The Finals matched GRFC 94 Red against Crossfire Premier G94 Baumgardt. This was a nail-biter for the parents as both teams brought their game to the field. After regulation play the score remained nil. Next came two 5 minute overtime periods and then down to kicks from the penalty mark to settle the outcome. GRFC 94 Red wins it in kicks 6-5 to become the Champions of the 2009 Washington Premier Rainier Challenge Copa Division.
