Nguyen graduated from the University of Washington in 2001 and concluded her collegiate playing career in 2000. During her career at Washington she was the team captain and helped lead the Huskies to a Pacific-10 Conference championship.
Nguyen received first-team All-Pac-10 honors in 1998 and 2000 and advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament with a school-record 18 wins. Nguyen finished her career with numerous Washington records, including the mark for single season & career goals.
Tami started her collegiate coaching career as an assistant coach at Portland State University, where she helped transform the Vikings from a last-place team in 2001 into the Big Sky Conference runners up in 2002.
